The Seminary community took a break from studies on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel to go on an outing, a trip known as the Ausflug. This year the Seminarians and Priests began the day with a Solemn High Mass at St. Wenceslaus Parish in Wahoo, NE. This local parish within the Diocese of Lincoln was newly renovated and restored to its former beauty.
The Seminarians then traveled to Schramm State Park on the Platte River for a short hike and lunch.
Celebrating his twenty-fifth year at the Glenn Korff School of Music, pianist and chanter Paul Barnes returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts to present a contemplative and cathartic program of piano works inspired by the mystical world of Native American, Greek, Jewish, and Latin chant.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Schola will join Dr. Barnes of the University of Nebraska music department in concert on September 24, 2020. The concert draws heavily on Christian themes from both the East and West. The seminarians will sing before the performance of Franz Liszt’s late piano solo masterpiece, Via Crucis.
On June 1st our Seminary and the entire Fraternity rejoiced for the ordination, in Lincoln’s Cathedral, of 5 new priests and 6 new Deacons by His Excellency Andrew Cozzens, Auxiliary Bishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
In your charity, Please pray for all the Ordinandi:
Archbishop Lucas has decided to suspend all public Masses and liturgies in the Diocese of Lincoln due to concerns about the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. As a result, the seminary is unable to welcome any visitors for Mass, Vespers, or any other liturgy taking place at the seminary. This restriction will remain until the suspension of public liturgy put in place by Archbishop Lucas for the Diocese of Lincoln is lifted.
Please be aware that you are able to view the traditional Mass being offered every day at various FSSP apostolates at the following link: http://www.livemass.net/
May God watch over us and protect us during these difficult times.
The priests and seminarians gathered early in the Chapel of Sts. Peter and Paul on the morning of Ash Wednesday for the Blessing of Ashes and Solemn High Mass. During the distributions of ashes, the tonsured members of the community receive ashes upon the place of tonsure: the top of the head. This symbolizes how they have a special duty to practice mortification during the Holy Season of Lent, and reminds them that this duty is due to the consecration of themselves they made to serve Our Lord on the day of their tonsure.
Please pray for Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary this Lent, that it may be a time of deeper spiritual growth and renewed commitment to Our Lord.
