From the Seminary’s outing to the city of Denver, Colorado, where the seminarians were generously hosted by the parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Littleton, Colorado. Highlights from the weekend included the celebration of several solemn liturgies: both for the 2nd Sunday of Lent and for the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Many thanks to all who made the event possible!
Here’s a glimpse at the Dumb Ox Quiz Bowl, an annual event by which we celebrate the Angelic Doctor, St. Thomas Aquinas. This year, the event was postponed a couple weeks due to our Ausflug in early March. Seminarians were given ample opportunities to prove their impressive knowledge and superior memory, or embarrass themselves trying! The questions focused on class material—spirituality, history, Latin, philosophy, theology, etc.—but also included such things as seminary life, American history and literature. This competition always makes for an exciting evening!
On Saturday, March 25th, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we packed into the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul to witness the ordination of eleven of our seminarians to the diaconate. The liturgy was beautiful, the ceremony exciting. How wonderful it was to watch these men take the penultimate step towards the priesthood.
For these newly-ordained deacons,
Mary, Mother of God, pray for them.
St. Stephen, Deacon and martyr, pray for them.
Fiat Mihi Secudum Verbum Tuum. // Be it done to me according to your word.
We ended the 2022-2023 academic year with the ordination of three of our deacons to the priesthood. The officiating celebrant was His Excellency, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, whom we thank for assisting us again. It was a wonderful ceremony and an exciting day. We appreciate all those who assisted in the celebration of Holy Mass, and also all who attended and helped to celebrate the joyful occasion. Please pray for our new priests!
